A few months ago I had the opportunity to photograph The Center for African American Health Fair. This was a great event that highlighted the importance of health within the African American community. I had a fun time capturing faces of attendees and all the vendors that made this a great event!

This was my first opportunity of photographing a fashion show. This was a unique fashion show too, as all the outfits are made out of condoms. I love creativity and was excited to see the entire process. My day begin with photographing behind the scenes of the makeup process and prep that goes into getting a fashion show ready.
Condom Couture is presented by the Boulder Valley Woman’s Health Center and promotes education for reproductive rights, affordable healthcare and comprehensive sexual health.
This was my first time attending Pride Festival. I was amazed by all the creative people I met and came across. The energy at the event is so high and exciting and an event that I will forever remember!
Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. This was two full years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed by President Lincoln (January 1, 1863). In 1866, freedmen in Texas organized the 1st of what would become the annual celebration of “Jubilee Day” (Day of Jubilee) on June 19th. Early celebrations were used as political rallies to give voting instructions to newly freed slaves. Over the years Juneteenth commemorations featured music, live bands, barbecues, prayer services, parades and many other activities. As Black people started to migrate from Texas the tradition of Juneteenth spread with them and learning about the history and seeing the future of our culture is always full of exuberance!
