My First Published Article: Denver Voice Photos and Article of a Black Cosplayer

I’m thrilled to announce my first journalistic article and photos were published! I was blown away when I saw the printed copy and was amazed at how great the layout looks. Race is never an easy topic to discuss but cosplayer Tif Von Batsy handled the topic with ease and was very eloquent discussing her experiences as a black cosplayer. I was excited to produce this article and was glad to see it well received.

Denver Voice Article: Boulder Burlesque Returns to the Stage with Hot Stuff Summer

I wrote an article! I’ve become more enthusiastic about photojournalism within the last few years and got an opportunity to shoot and write an article for the Denver Voice newspaper. After photographing Boulder Burlesque’s Hot Stuff Summer, I interviewed the producer Crista Reid to gain more insight about the dance organization. I was nervous to interview but found it very exciting and engaging. I’m looking forward to writing more articles and shooting more stories!

My First Newspaper Assignment with Denver Voice

I recently become a contributor to the Denver Voice, a free newspaper here in Denver that facilitates a dialogue addressing the roots of social injustices while offering economic, educational, and empowerment opportunities to impoverished communities.

I was thrilled to receive my first assignment, photographing a Covid-19 vaccination event at Lincoln High School. The vaccination clinic was focused on Latino’s & minorities, which make up less than 30% of Denver’s Covid vaccinations. The event didn’t have a high turnout but it was great experience shooting my first assignment for a news organization.

This Is Home Refugee Event

I had a wonderful opportunity to see a great film about the process of refugee's and what is required for them to come to the United States and what they must do in order to stay in the US. Afterwards, a Q & A with a four person panel of refugees now living in America discussed their experiences of living in America.
